A shift calendar defines periods when resources are available (open periods) and unavailble (closed periods – e.g. a weekend or vacation). General calendar
To create a new General calendar, click the + sign and provide a new unique name.
With the general calendar created, expand the tree-node to display the three elements it consist of
- Week calendar
- First select a named week calendar1. Next provide rules2 in this calendar for both open periods (e.g. 1. shift open between 7-15 on weekdays) and closed periods (e.g. Lunch break closing between 11-11:30).
- Rules in the week calendar will typically not have any end date.
- Week calendars can be shared between many general calendars
- Holiday calendar
- First select a named holiday calendar1. Next provide rules2 in this calendar for typically closed periods like holidays and vacation. Any rule added to the Holiday calendar will overwrite rules from the Week calendar
- Rules in the holiday calendar will typically have an end date.
- Holiday calendars can be shared between many general calendars
- Specific for calendar
- Provide rules in this calendar that will overwrite rules from both Week and Holiday calendar. You will rarely find the need for this, and it can be left empty for must use cases.
1 To create a Week or Holiday calendar select respectively the tab named Week or Holiday. From this tab click the + sign to create a named Week/Holiday calendar.
2 To add a new rule to a Week/Holiday calendar, place the mouse cursor on top of the Week/Holiday calendar and click the + sign that appears next to the cursor.
A full example
The following picture shows the result of a general calendar called Standard calendar with a selected Week calendar Standard week and a selected Holiday calendar called Holidays.
